WHS Junior, Teagan Cassidy, competed at The Vegas Shoot in Nevada which is the largest and most prestigious indoor archery tournament in the world. The event brings together over 3,700 archers from around the globe ranging from beginner archers to Olympic champions. The three-day competition features the traditional 3-spot 20-yard Vegas Round which made this tournament famous.

With this opportunity, Teagan was able to compete with top archers around the country and world.  This was a very exciting event for Teagan as she has always had a passion for archery.  This particular tournament had an important focus for scholarship earnings based on an essay contest and the competition itself. The National Field Archery Association Foundation, in partnership with the Easton Foundations, awards $27,000 in scholarships to junior participants at The Vegas Shoot. Each year, the top three archers in each of the junior divisions receive $1,000, $750, or $500 scholarships to use toward higher education. Teagan was very excited and nervous to compete at this level, but she held her own on the first day, and on day two she shot 50 points higher, which in archery a comeback and doing better the second day is very difficult. She finished in the top 100.   Congratulations Teagan!

From this experience Teagan was able to watch several Olympic medalists and world champion archers throughout the weekend. She learned much about herself and where she needs to be mentally in the future when shooting at such a prestigious tournament. Teagan is very determined and has clear and passionate goals for her pursuit in this sport.

Good Luck Teagan Cassidy on your future archery events.  For more information about The Vegas Shoot-  ttps://www.thevegasshoot.com
