Superintendent Pat Dubbs announces the hire of Dr. Samuel R. Ison

Posted on: May 11, 2017

In April, The Wayne Local Board of Education accepted the resignation of Principal Randy Gebhardt who has accepted a position with West Clermont Local School District.  Dr. Samuel R. Ison was hired to replace Mr. Gebhardt as Principal on Monday, May 8th at the WLS Board of Education meeting.

Dr. Ison brings a wealth of knowledge and vast experience to Wayne Local Schools.  Sam is currently the Superintendent of Middletown City Schools.  He has been with Middletown since 2011.  Prior to Middletown, Dr. Ison was High School Principal at Lebanon High School (1996 – 2011) and Springfield Northwestern High School (1995-1996).  He started his education career at Milton Union as a Social Studies Teacher (1979-1986) and Middle School Principal (1986-1995).

Sam is well known in education circles for his ability to generate a positive school culture.  The Waynesville job is especially attractive to Sam; the size and success of our school district provides him the opportunity to return to a position that works directly with students and teachers on a daily basis.

Dr. Ison has also been an Adjunct Professor with Xavier University’s Graduate School.

There will be a “Meet and Greet” on Tuesday, May 16th from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the High School Spartan Room for anyone interested in meeting Dr. Ison.

Welcome to Waynesville Sam!
