On January 29th, the Middle School Student Council will host their Second Annual Ice Cream Social as a fundraiser to help maintain wells in South Sudan, so the villagers can have easy access to clean drinking water. Every year, the 6th graders read the book A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park and last year, the students were so moved by the story that they wanted to help. Students will pay $3 for a presale ticket which is a donation to the cause and in return, will get a bowl of ice cream in which they can fill with whatever toppings they would like. On the day of the ice cream social, tickets will go to $5.
The student council is asking for donations to help offset the cost of the ice cream social. Any donations are appreciated and will be used. They are looking for ice cream, toppings, and monetary donations that can be deposited online through our link or dropped off at the middle school office. Items that can be placed into gift baskets will also be accepted (2 liter pops, Gatorade, gum, chips, $5/$10 gift cards, etc.). The gift baskets will be used as an incentive for students who donate more than their ticketed price. For every dollar over, they will receive a raffle ticket for the basket(s). Thank you so much for supporting the middle school and a cause that the students are passionate about. Any questions, contact Mrs. Jessica Harvey at jharvey@wayne-local.com
