2016/17 School Calendar This calendar was adopted at the February 8, 2016 BOE meeting.
WHS PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES We will be having parent teacher conferences on February 25th from 4-7 pm. We will also be having a parent meeting on this date at 6:00 pm in the gym to explain the changes we are implementing for the 2016-17 school year in regards to scheduling courses. Please call the office if you would like to schedule an appointment with your child’s teacher. 513-897-2776 If you plan on attending the scheduling meeting, please do not schedule a conference from 6:00-7:00 pm. 2016-17 WHS SCHEDULING MEETING FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS We will be having a parent meeting on February 25th at 6:00pm in the gym to explain the changes we are implementing for the 2016-17 school year in regards to scheduling courses. We will be moving to an online system and will NOT have arena scheduling in the spring. If your child will be in the grades 9-12 in the fall of 2016, you are invited to this meeting. We will be discussing: · 2016-17 Program of Studies – New courses added · The online process · Parent input and Waivers · Internships ONLINE Scheduling – Students will start scheduling courses for 2016-17 starting the first week of April during the school day. Parents will be notified of course selections and students will need to have parent signatures before schedules are finalized. 2016-17 COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS MEETING We will be holding an informational meeting for parents and students on February 25th at 7:00 pm in the Gym. If your child will be in the grades 7-12 in the fall of 2016, you are invited to this meeting. Wayne Local Schools is very proud to have partnered with Sinclair Community College and will be working together to offer the best opportunities for our students. A representative from Sinclair Community College will be in attendance at this meeting. It’s that time again to nominate an excellent Educator or an Innovative Teacher. Remember the educator must hold a current teaching certificate and work at Wayne Local.
You can access the nomination form 2 different ways.
- You can nominate deserving teachers by completing the on-line form on the www.apcwc.org website – just click on - http://www.apcwc.org/project-excellence/ and click on “PROJECT EXCELLENCE NOMINATION FORM” to open – complete the requested information and when you hit “submit” the document will be emailed to Project Excellence in Lebanon. NOTE: nominations received that have the text area left blank will be discarded “Text Area” What does this educator do that exemplifies excellence in teaching? Please be as specific as possible.

WAYNE LOCAL HALL OF FAME The Wayne Local Hall of Fame exists to recognize individuals who exemplified excellence in two categories: 1) Academic Leadership (accomplishments while a student in the Wayne Local School District, and/or 2) Success and Citizenship (accomplishments after graduation from Wayne Local School District, or while an employee of the school district, or for other significant contributions to the school district).
Nomination forms may be picked up in the Superintendent's office or found on the Wayne Local website “Hall of Fame form”. Deadline for forms is March 30, 2016. The recipients of the Hall of Fame award will be announced at the 2016 Wayne Local Alumni Dinner Saturday, May 28. Mail the nomination form to Wayne Local Schools, Attn: Pat Dubbs, 659 Dayton Rd. WAYNE LOCAL PRESCHOOL PROGRAM Wayne Local Schools offers services to both special needs and typical children with curriculum and settings tailored to the science of early childhood education. The Wayne Local School preschool provides both center-based and itinerant (visiting) teaching for children ages 3-5 who are identified by the district as children who would benefit from specific interventions to address delays or needs. Teachers, aides and therapists work with children to achieve goals specified in their Individual Education Plans (IEP’s). Typical children are also an important part of the preschool classrooms, serving as peer models and sharing in activities based on Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards. Please visit the Wayne Local website to find out about our Preschool application process, timeline, enrollment packets, screenings and cost. Applications are online. Applications will not be accepted until Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. in the Superintendent’s Office. Applications must be hand delivered. (Applications will NOT be accepted prior March 1.)
2016-2017 Kindergarten Information Meeting Waynesville Elementary School will be having an information meeting for those students entering Kindergarten this fall for the school year of 2016-2017. This meeting will be Thursday, February 18th at 6:00 pm in the Elementary Gym.
STUDENTS HAVE BEEN BUSY IN THE ELEMENTARY ART ROOM! Fifth grade has been making wire fish sculptures with beads and buttons, after learning about the artist Alexander Calder and his mobiles. We are connecting our sculptures to make large mobiles, too! Fourth grade students have been working on large, cardboard, sculptural paintings. We studied the art of Elizabeth Murray, a famous artist that used shaped canvas for her paintings. Third grade students are finishing up their warm/cool color cat paintings, in the style of Laurel Burch and are starting a cityscape project. Second grade students are finishing stained glass windows using geometric shapes and will be starting an abstract sculpture project.
First graders made alligators using geometric shapes and organic shapes and mixed their own shade of green to paint them. They also finished their self-portraits. All day kindergarten learned how to tint the color red and make pink. We made hearts and pigs out of their painted paper. They also got to work with clay and make clay hearts with beaded handles! MIDDLE SCHOOL PE Middle School PE students this year are learning about the FITT Principle and how it relates to Cardiovascular Fitness. FITT stands for: · F – Frequency (How often) · I – Intensity (How hard) · T – Time (How long) · T – Type (Which exercises) Cardiovascular fitness relates to the body’s ability to generate energy and deliver oxygen to working muscles. It is considered the most important component of physical fitness and is one of the best indicators of overall health. Aerobic exercises are best for developing cardiovascular fitness. Aerobic means “with oxygen” and includes continuous activities that use oxygen. Walking, biking, jogging, skating, or rowing are just a few examples of aerobic activities. Aerobic activities strengthen the heart and lungs, and make your working muscles more efficient at using oxygen. They also increase stroke volume (amount of blood pumped per heartbeat) and lower your resting heart rate to an average of 72 BPM (beats per minute). A resting heart rate varies. However, the lower your resting heart rate, the more efficient your heart is working. One long-term result of regular aerobic activity is cardiovascular endurance, sometimes called cardio-respiratory endurance. This is the ability of the body to work continuously for extended periods of time. Those who have a high level of cardiovascular fitness have lowered risks of adult lifestyle diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Cardiovascular endurance increases your chances for living a longer and healthier life. It is important to know your FITT Principles so that you gain health benefits for your heart. Go Spartans! 5TH GRADE MATH
In math, we just finished up our unit on Geometry and will be starting our unit on Measurement. Next week, students will discover how to find the volume of rectangular prisms by building with unit cubes. Then, we will work on converting measurement units within a measurement system. Fifth grade students have their own accounts on IXL.com, where they can practice different standards in both Mathematics and Language Arts until mastery (achieving a score of 100). The site is set up so that students receive immediate feedback upon solving problems or answering questions. If they miss a problem, it knocks their score back so that they have to practice the skill a little more, and explains how to correctly solve the problem. It also uses students’ performances to adjust the level of difficulty of the questions. It is an excellent tool for additional practice at home. Sarah Scott sscott@wayne-local.com
MS. LIPINSKI’S SECOND GRADE CLASS Well, February is half way over!! This week we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a scrumptious and healthy buffet of fruits, cheese, peperoni, and crackers for the entire second grade. Students also passed out Valentine’s Day cards to each other. During lunch students had their “Manners Matters” luncheon. Prior to lunch, our class had a discussion about what are good manners and how we use polite words such as “please” and “thank you”. The students ate in the beautifully decorated cafeteria using their best manners. Thank you to all who helped out! In our Journeys reading series, students have recently read an informational text about music titled “Ah, Music”. During the week, we discussed the many elements that comprise music such as rhythm, melody, and expression. As a class, we talked about how listening to different kinds of music can make you feel different feelings. In Math, students just finished learning about multiplication and division. They have learned the relationship between multiplication and repeated addition along with division and repeated subtraction. Students solved multiplication and division problems using pictures, repeated addition and subtraction, and manipulatives. Overall, the students did well learning about these math concepts. We are continuing with multiplication with learning our multiplication tables of 2, 5, and 10. I cannot believe the school year is more than half over! I have enjoyed the year and getting to know each and every student. I have seen so much progress in each of them. They are becoming third graders before my eyes. Again, I would like to take a moment to thank all of my wonderful parents for their fabulous support. I know that they are working with their student at home by reading every night, going over math facts, and studying spelling words. I would also like to thank my fantastic parent volunteers. This event concludes with a concert on Saturday, February 27 at 3:00 PM at Kings High School. It is a wonderful experience for students involved and a great event to attend! EXCELLENT AND SUPERIOR MUSICIANS! Congratulations to the following musicians on their Excellent and Superior ratings at the OMEA District 13 Solo and Ensemble Contest at Blanchester Middle School. Each was judged by a professional musician/music educator on such criteria as tone, intonation, interpretation, and technique. The students then earned a rating from I to V, with a I being Superior, a II Excellent, a III Good, a IV Poor and a V Very Poor. SENIOR BAND MEMBER PERFORMS WITH HONOR BAND A student from Waynesville will be a part of the Tri State Honor Band, hosted by Wright State University’s Music Department. Kyle Buflod was among top musicians from schools around both Dayton and Cincinnati who were chosen to perform a concert together on Saturday, February 20, 2016, after only rehearsing as a group for a few hours. Kyle, who plays the Baritone Saxophone (among other instruments), plans on majoring in Music Education. Congratulations and good luck! WAYNESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BAND AND CHOIR PREPARING FOR CONTEST The Waynesville High School Concert Band has been preparing three pieces since early January—Excelsior (Galop) arranged by Gene Milford, Shenandoah by Frank Ticheli, and Beyond the Cosmos by David Shaffer. Likewise, the choir has been working on music to take to contest. Our musicians have been working very hard to polish the music, and on Friday, March 11, 2016 the Waynesville High School Concert Band will be taking the stage in hopes of earning a Superior rating (I) at the OMEA District 13 Large Group Adjudicated Event. This annual contest gives area bands and choirs the opportunity to polish three pieces of music then perform in front of three judges, who rate the performance on tone, intonation, interpretation and technique. The judges then award a score of I through V, with I being Superior, II Excellent, etc. After the ensemble’s performance on stage, they are then directed to the sight-reading room where music that has never been seen before is passed out to the group. The students and director are given four minutes to look over the music silently, and an additional four minutes for the director to talk the students through the piece. After that, the ensemble then plays or sings the piece of music, trying to perform it with as few errors as possible. The sight-reading judge then awards the group a rating as well, and all four judges’ ratings are added together. If the combined scores are between 4 and 6, the band receives a Superior rating (I) and is eligible to perform at State Large Group Adjudicated Event. To prepare for this event, the Waynesville High School Concert Band and Choir will be performing their Pre Contest Concert on Monday, February 29, 2016, at 6:30pm in the High School Gym. In addition to regular concert goers, there will be professional musicians/music educators in the audience to give constructive feedback to both ensembles as they make their final preparations for contest. MIDDLE SCHOOL CONCERT COMING SOON Mark your calendars for Monday, March 21st at 6:30pm – it’s time for the next Middle School Concert! All middle school bands and choirs will be performing in the high school gym. In honor of the month of March, all three middle school bands have been working on marches, learning about the style and form of these unique pieces of band literature. In addition, each band will be playing a thematic piece that has posed new challenges for our young musicians. Come support the hard work these students have been making – you will notice a huge difference from December’s Winter Concert! As we look over our participation list, we noticed many with outstanding balances for this trip. To help offset the cost of camp, we will be providing one more fundraising opportunity. Pasta for Pennies Contest The High School Student Council members are bringing PASTA for PENNIES contest to Waynesville High School! This will be a 7th period contest during the entire month of February. The winning class with the highest per student donation average will earn an Olive Garden pasta lunch!!! We have a high school goal of $1000, and students and parents are both encouraged to donate their spare change to the donation boxes in their 7th period classrooms. There will also be a donation box in the High School office. The Pasta for Pennies contest benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Every penny, nickel, dime, quarter, or dollar donated means so much to patients affected by cancer, and these donations will help to save lives!!! So, please help support this worthy cause!!! College Goal Sunday-February 14 2pm Get help with FAFSA this SUNDAY! The FAFSA priority deadline is fast approaching for many colleges (mid February). If you need help completing your FAFSA please consider attending College Goal Sunday at one of the local colleges. THIS SUNDAY February 14 at 2 pm financial aid counselors will help you complete and submit the FAFSA. You must bring certain documents with you and register to attend. Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month-February Start Talking to your teen/tween about dating relationships. Studies show there is a dangerous gap between a daughter’s relationships and a parent’s awareness of that relationship. While studies also show that 80% of parents agree that it is important to have a conversation about dating violence only 3% identify NO VIOLENCE as a characteristic of a healthy relationship. About 47% of teens have been in a romantic relationship while only 19% of parents think their teen has been in a relationship. In cases of unhealthy relationships, 33% of daughters state they have been in an unhealthy relationship. Only 27% of their parent report saying the same thing. There is a significant difference in the formal reporting of verbally abusive relationships as well. Over 62% of teens report that they have been verbally abused in a dating relationship. Only 34% of the parents have formally reported the verbal abuse to authorities or the partner’s parents. And finally, only 37% of parents know of controlling behavior in their child’s dating relationship. They do not know that controlling relationships involve 10 phones calls or 25 texts a day to check up on a boyfriend or girlfriend. These programs offer enrichment and exploration of many interesting subjects. The WSU office of Pre-College Programs in conjunction with the College of Science and Mathematics, College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the University Libraries are pleased to offer Exploring STEMM – Enriching Minds through Science 2016, as well as Residential Camps and Institutes focused on STEMM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine. Students who are selected will participate in a variety of STEMM disciplines over a two-day period. Students will spend the night one night on campus under the supervision of residential Assistants. Exploring STEMM (Grades 7-9) will include: Exploring Human Anatomy, Exploring the Nano-world of Precious Metals, Brain Plasticity, No Avatar Needed, DNA and Forensic Science, More than Books: How the Library Supports STEMM students, Demonstrations of Chemistry in Our Lives, Falling Waters (FREE)

UNITED STATES SERVICE ACADEMY SEMINARS – APRIL Interested in learning about the application process for the Air Force, Military, Naval, and Merchant Marines Academy? Join an informational session in Ohio near you. Interested students and their parents are invited to attend one of the informational seminars co-hosted by Senator Sherrod Brown and Senator Rob Portman. There will be nine seminars across the state throughout the month of April. On Thursday, April 7, 2016 there is a seminar scheduled for Warren County. Location: Symmes Township Library 11850 Enyart Road Loveland, OH 45140, 6:00- 8:00p.m. More will be scheduled for the Beavercreek, Bowling Green, and Cleveland area- TBA. Liaison officers from the Naval, Military, Air Force, and Merchant Marine academies will be present to speak and to answer questions. In addition, Academy Coordinators will discuss the congressional nomination process that will use to select qualified men and women. The privilege of nominating candidates to the United States service academies is one that entails a great deal of responsibility. SPORTS NEWS Support the Spartans! Athletic Website: The athletic website is being completely redone. If you are currently looking for schedules for the remainder of this school year go to schedulestar.com to view those. Next year we will have a new site called arbiterlive that will keep all of the schedules up to date for everyone. I will have a URL once the renovation of the website is updated. Thanks and sorry for any confusion. The swim team is led this season by three senior captains James Kelley, Tara Nix, and Shelby Worthington. The team has had an amazing season thus far. The boys’ team began the season with a strong 2nd place finish out of 14 teams in our own home Swimvitational. The girls’ team swam to a 4th place finish. At the midway point in the season the team competed in the largest high school meet in the nation with over 2,800 swimmers. The team was led by James Kelley placing 6th overall in the 50 backstroke, Kierstyn Cassidy placing 7th in the 400 Individual Medley and 10th in the 200 butterfly, and Sabrina Ball placing 17th in the 50 breaststroke. The team overall saw over 80% best times during that meet. Finally the team competed at the SWBL league championships. The ladies placed 3rd overall by just 16 points due in part to having no divers. The boys tied for 4th. The team achieved 95% best times being led by Kierstyn Cassidy with an individual SWBL championship title and a new team record in the 500 freestyle and placing 2nd in the 200 individual medley. Other top 6 finishers include Tara Nix 3rd place in the 100 free and 4th in the 50 free, Kylee Meredith 4th in the 100 fly and 4th in the 100 backstroke, and James Kelley 4th in the 100 backstroke and 5th place in the 200 individual medley. The girls relay team of Nix, Meredith, Ball, and Cassidy placed 2nd in both the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Free relay. The boys relay team of Austin. Kelley, Shinkle, and Good placed 4th in the 200 medley relay and 3rd in the 400 free relay. The team has had some amazing swims thus far going into sectionals which begins with the boys swimming this Friday evening and the girls Saturday morning. Lady Spartans Basketball League Champions! Dixie 52-29 Win The Lady Spartans basketball team defeated Dixie on Thursday night by a score of 52 to 29 to clinch a tie for the league title. The team had three players in double digits with Rachel Murray leading the way with 18 and Marcella Sizer had 12 and Aubrey Rains chipped in with 10. The team held Dixie to just 6 points the first half. Bri Barton had 4 assists and 3 steals in the game. It was also Senior night and the team honored its only senior Kami Purkey. Erin Walsh our New Zealand foreign exchange student sang the National to start the game. The team will now play its first tournament game on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Wilmington High School vs Seven Hills. 2016 Waynesville High School Baseball Youth Skills Camp – Saturday, March 19th Waynesville High School Baseball will be holding a youth skills camp on Saturday, March 19th. All players will receive instruction from current players and coaches that will better prepare them to continue on the tradition of excellence in the Waynesville Baseball family. Instruction will be adjusted to meet and improve the specific areas of need as determined by the abilities of each individual camper. 1st Grade -– 4th Grade - 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM 5th Grade –- 8th Grade - 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM Registration forms are available in the middle and high school offices as well as the youth association website. TRANSPORTATION SAFETY TIPS Stand back away from the curb; students should stand back while waiting for the school bus to arrive. Remain there until the bus is stopped completely. The driver will open the service door to actuate the warning lights and place hand over the horn to warn students of any potential hazards. The driver will signal to students when it is safe to cross the road and board the bus. The student should check for traffic before crossing the roadway and must cross straight across the roadway, approximately ten feet in front of the bus.

WELLNESS WC Combined Health District Newsletter – Jan 2016 HPV VACCINE HPV is short for human papillomavirus. About 20 million people in the United States, most in their teens and early 20s, are infected with HPV. Not only does HPV cause almost all cervical cancers in women, it is also responsible for other types of cancer. HPV causes mouth and throat cancer, as well as anal cancer in both women and men. HPV can cause cancers of the vulva and vagina in women, and cancer of the penis in men. Each year, there are about 18,000 women and 7,000 men affected by HPV-related cancers in the United States. Most of the HPV infections that cause these cancers could be prevented with vaccination. HPV-related cancers can be devastating. HPV vaccines offer the greatest health benefits to individuals who receive all three doses before having any type of sexual activity. That’s why HPV vaccination is recommended for preteen girls and boys at age 11 or 12 year. HPV vaccines are given in a series of 3 shots over 6 months. It is very important to complete all 3 shots to get the best protection. More than 46 million doses of HPV vaccine have been given out, and vaccine studies continue to show that HPV vaccines are safe. If your son or daughter hasn’t started or finished the HPV vaccine series yet-it’s not too late! Now is a good time to ask their doctor or nurse about vaccines for your preteens and teens. FLU SEASON Flu season up until this point has been relatively mild, but flu activity is predicted to increase over the coming weeks. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year. Flu symptoms: Fever or feeling feverish/chills; Cough; Sore Throat; Runny or Stuffy Nose; Muscle or body aches; Headaches; Fatigue Flu viruses spread mainly by droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze or talk. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby. You may be able to pass on the flu to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick. Most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick. 2016/2017 SEVENTH GRADE VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS The Ohio Department of Health has revised the School Immunization Requirements effective January 4, 2010. All students are to receive an additional dose of Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) vaccine BEFORE entering the seventh grade. If your child has received a Tdap vaccine within 5 years of entering the seventh grade (2012 or later), this will meet the requirement. Additionally, beginning with the start of the 2016-2017 school year, one dose of meningococcal vaccine is required prior to entry into the 7th grade. This requirement is met if your student has had this vaccine at any time before entering 7th grade. 2016/2017 SENIOR VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS Meningococcal: Beginning with the start of the 2016-2017 school year, all pupils entering the 12th grade are required to be vaccinated against meningococcal. A second (2nd) dose of meningococcal) vaccine is required prior to entry into the 12th grade. The second (2nd) dose must be administered on or after the 16th birthday with at least eight (8) weeks between the first and second dose. If the first dose of meningococcal vaccine was administered after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required. If a pupil is 15 years of age or younger, only one dose is required.

TWO-HOUR DELAY SCHEDULE Wayne Local will refer to a 2 hour early childhood delay schedule as Plan “B” Kindergarten and Preschool. Plan “B” A.M. Half-Day Kindergarten and Preschool will begin two (2) hours late and remain in school for two hours. These students will leave school one-hour later than usual. School transportation will pick your child up two hours later than normal and bring your child home one hour later than normal. Plan “B” P.M. Half-Day Kindergarten and Preschool will begin one (1) hour late and remain at school for two hours, dismissing at the regular time. School transportation will pick your child up one hour later than normal. Your child will be delivered home at the normal time. John Kasich, the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety are launching the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day for schools that register for the service. This tip line will allow students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student. Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to local school officials, local law enforcement agencies and others, if necessary. TAP Unit analysts always follow up quickly with the affected school and law enforcement agencies to make sure that the incident is investigated, action is taken and the outcome is tracked. Students of all grade levels in the Waynesville School District are invited to build a cardboard creation and bring it to the cafeteria on Wednesday, March 9 at 5:30 P.M. for the Cardboard Challenge Arcade. The underlying rule of this event is simple: students use cardboard and other recycled materials to create an original project. That's all. The rest is left to the creators’ very capable imaginations.

Do you know what PTO stand for? Parent Teacher Organization. Unlike some schools we do not collect dues to be part of the PTO, everyone is invited and encouraged to be part of this great organization. Everything the PTO does is done by volunteers, no one is paid to help with any of our events. We are all parents like you, with 1 or more kids who attend the Wayne Local School District, our kids play sports and do after school activities, many of us also coach baseball, basketball, soccer, football or lead cub scouts, boy scouts or girl scout troops. We love to come together to come up with fun ideas for the students of our schools. We really would love to see some new parents volunteer to help at different events, it is a great way to meet others in our community!!

HISEY PARK’S GREAT BACKYARD BIRD COUNT
Come to the Great Backyard Bird Count.
Date: February 13 and 14
Time: Saturday 10:00 to 4:00 Sunday 4:00 to 7:00 (Owl Calling at dusk on Sunday.)

You can watch birds at feeders, learn birding skills from Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists while enjoying the comforts of the Old Hisey Farmhouse, learn to identify common Ohio birds, help create an Official Bird Count for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, create nutritious “Zick Suet” bird food, relax with hot coffee, hot chocolate, apple cider, cookies and other snacks. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars. Hikes will be offered weather permitting.

WAYNESVILLE LIONS CLUB
Waynesville Lions Club is having their Annual Roses Sale. These can be ordered from now until March 4th. The delivery date is March 16th. They arrive in a box with a preservative packet. They do come in a variety of colors; however, I am unable to order specific colors but you can specify your favorites and I will do my best to get what you prefer. The cost is $17 and this can be paid when they are delivered to your home. (Checks can be made out to Waynesville Lions Club). If you would like to place an order for 1 or more dozen, simply e-mail me with specifics at drichmond73@twc.com.

FREE COMMUNITY DINNER
Everyone is invited to attend a free Community Dinner. The Community Meal will be offered every month (on the last Friday of the month) at the Waynesville United Methodist Church, 297 North Street, Waynesville. This outreach project is supported from a grant received through the Ohio River Valley District.

Sprouts Gardening Fun for Grades K – 5 at The Mary L. Cook Public Library
Is your interest in plants growing? Come to our hands-on series designed to let kids learn about gardening by having fun! We will meet every other Friday from 4:30-5:30 pm beginning March 4 - April 15, with one final session on May 6 before Mother’s Day.

Lego Fun at The Mary L. Cook Public Library For Grades 1 – 5
We will be offering two Lego programs this month. Please sign up for one program only. The first Lego session will be Saturday, February 27 from 10:30am – 11:30am, the second session will be Monday, February 29 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. We supply Legos of all sizes and a theme. You supply your imagination! Come build a creation based on a theme. Please register beginning February 8. This program is limited to 20. (2/26)
Gravity Science Friday, February 26 from 4:00pm to 4:30pm for Preschoolers and a Caregiver (3yrs. – Kdg.). We will be exploring the science behind gravity with hands on activities. Preschoolers should bring an adult with them. Required Registration begins February 8. (2/26)
Stuffed Animal Sleepover –
Friday February 19, 2016 @ The Mary L. Cook Public Library
4:00pm- 4:30pm for ages 3 - Grade 1
Bring your favorite stuffed animal to the library for a sleepover! Enjoy stories and activities during the program and leave your stuffed animal with us for a sleepover! Saturday, February 20 (between 10am and 2pm) pick up your stuffed animal and see what kind of mischief your huggable buddy got into at the library after dark! Registration begins Feb. 1st and is limited to 35. (2/12)
