Graduation & Parade Details

The Community Celebration Graduation Parade is a memorable one!  This tradition began during the COVID pandemic and was so loved, that it has returned now for the 3rd year.  Mark your calendars now for Friday, May 20th. 

When:  Friday, May 20
Time:  6pm

 

 

PARADE AND GRADUATION DETAILS

 

May 20, 2022 Seniors

Please arrive at 12:45pm in the high school gym with your cap and gown in preparation for your elementary walk-through in front of the staff and students. Once complete you will return to WHS and begin the graduation rehearsal.  Rehearsal attendance is Mandatory.

Parade information

Seniors should arrive at 5:45pm to the back parking in the numbered spaces and should wear their cap and gowns. Note graduates will not be arranged alphabetical order.  Graduates may decorate their cars with their senior signs which are displayed in front of the school. (They may pick them up after graduation practice).  The parade will depart from the school and continue on the route approved by the Waynesville Police Department.

Safety Rules: In order to conduct the parade safely, the following rules should be adhered to:

“One Way” traffic pattern will be implemented during the event.  All Participants will remain in their vehicles at all times on school property and throughout the parade. Vehicles for the parade must be a registered vehicle with no attachments (trailer, etc.) Only one (1) senior permitted per vehicle.  Family members may ride in the vehicle (parents and siblings.)

The Waynesville Police Department and Waynesville Fire Department will help monitor the route.

Observers: Family, friends and community are encouraged to remain off to the side throughout the parade route.  The Waynesville Police Department will have officers stationed throughout the route to help with traffic flow.

End of Parade: Vehicles will enter Spartan Way and disperse after all cars are off of Dayton Road.

May 22, 2022-Graduation Day

Seniors are to report to the 2nd floor of the high school by 1:15pm. The doors will open for families at 1:00pm.  There are no early reservation of seats; however, we will have seating available for those with physical disabilities/needs located on the first row of bleachers.

Start at the school.
Come out of Spartan Way - turn right.
Turn right on Edwards Dr.
Turn Left on High St.
Turn Right on 3rd/South St.
Left on Main St.
Left on Franklin.
Right on Old Stage.
Left on Preston.
Right on Camp Creek.
Left on Adamsmoor Dr.
Left on Franklin Rd.
Right on Dayton Rd.
End at the school.
