TEEN SERVICES:  (students entering 6 - 12 grade)

Friday, May 20:
School’s Out for Summer Party: 6 – 8pm. Celebrate the beginning of summer with games, food, fun, and friends at the library. Registration and parent permission required. Registration is open. 
 
Monday, May 23:
Smash Brothers Tournament: 5-7pm. Compete in a double-elimination tournament to see who is the Smash Brothers champion.
 
Friday, June 3:
Color Powder & Glowstick Party: 6-8p. Teens celebrate summer with color powder fun in our outdoor garden. Glowsticks and a pizza dinner party will be held in the Activity Room. Dress for a mess. Registration required. Register starting Wednesday, May 11. 
 
Monday, June 6, 20; July 11:
Stop Motion Monday: 2-4pm. Teens make a stop motion film with LEGOS, clay, and other found materials. Register starting Monday, May 16. 
 
Thursdays in June and July from 10:45am-12:15pm:
Reading & Science Buddies – Teen Volunteers Needed
Teens in 6th-12th grade, earn community service hours the fun way by helping children practice reading skills and helping them complete fizz-boom science experiments during the summer. For volunteer information, please contact Sarah at ryansa@marylcook.com.
 
1st and 3rd Thursdays:
Teen Anime Club: 3-4pm. Teens in 6th - 12th grade - join us for a new anime episode 1st and 3rd Thursdays each month. Vote on your favorite shows for our next meeting. Snacks and anime-inspired crafts will be available each meeting.
 
Thursday, June 9:
Evening Escape Room: 5-7pm. Teens work as a team to solve puzzles before time is up! Registration begins Thursday, May 19.
 
Monday, June 13:
Disco LED Anglerfish: 2-4pm. Teens make a flashing LED anglerfish with coin batteries, RGB LED wires and paint. See a demonstration in The Studio makerspace on how to cut out parts for this DIY project. Registration required. Registration is required and begins on Monday, May 23. 
 
Friday, June 17; July 1, 15, 29:
The Haunted Stacks Society: 5-7pm. Teens use local ghost history in this after-hour teen-led podcast. Registration is required and begins on Friday, May 27.

Thursday, June 23; July 28:
I'd Rather Be Reading: 1-2pm. A book club for 8th - 9th graders. Books can be picked up at the library’s front desk at the beginning of June and July. 
 
Friday, June 24:
Something's Fishy at the Surfside Shake Shack!  6-8pm. Teens work as a team to solve our after-hour surfside mystery. Pizza dinner provided. Register starting Friday, June 3.  
 
Monday, June 27:
Make Your Own Mandalorian Helmet: 2-4pm. Teens make a Mandalorian helmet from everyday materials. Registration required. Registration is required and begins on Monday, June 6. 
 
Tuesday, June 28; July 26:
Popsicles & Pages: 1-2pm. A 6th - 7th Grader Book Club. Books can be picked up at the library’s front desk at the beginning of June and July. 
 
Monday, July 18:
Animatronic Owls: 2-4pm. Teens make an animatronic owl with hobby servos. See a demonstration in The Studio makerspace on how to cut out parts for your creation. Registration is required and begins on Monday, June 27. 
 
Saturday, July 23
End of Summer After Hour Party: 6-10pm. Teens celebrate the summer with friends at the library. Group games, pizza, movies, more food, and fun galore! Registration begins Friday, July 1.
 
Monday, July 25:
Sew a Baby Bantha Plush: 2-4pm. Sew an adorable baby Bantha to add to your Star Wars collection. Registration required. Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, July 5.

ELEMENTARY FUN: 

Oceans of Possibility!  We have summer reading fun for all ages at The Mary L. Cook Public Library.
May 23 thru July 30: 
Be rewarded for enjoying books and improving your reading skills during the 2022 Summer Reading Program.  We are giving away great prizes, gift cards and more.

Fun programs each week for preschoolers - teens.

Register beginning May 24 at https://mlcooklibrary.readsquared.com.  Stop in the library to pick up a calendar for all the details and events.
