SPARTAN MARCHING BAND NEWS!
This fall, the Waynesville High School Spartan Marching Band has been entertaining audiences with their 2017 show: “AVATAR”, featuring music from the 2003 movie of the same name.  The band competed at their first marching band invitational on September 16th, with a strong performance, and a desire to get even better for our next one.  We had a great show of parent support, which is much appreciated by the band on the field.  We invite all of you to come out to support our Marching Spartans this Saturday, September 30, as they take the field at 5:45pm at Loveland High School’s Drums along the Little Miami Invitational.

In addition, the Marching Band has special guests at our last home game: there were 49 alumni band members who joined us at the Homecoming football game on the 22nd.  This was our largest turnout ever!  Former students from the Class of 2005 through 2017 were represented!  We had a great time playing crowd favorites at halftime and we look forward to continuing these traditions next year!  I was truly overwhelmed and humbled by the sheer number of alums who wanted to be a member of our band family again!

On Friday, October 20th, the Spartan Marching Band will welcome our 7th and 8th grade band members for Middle School Band Night!  Both grades have been working hard preparing music for our night together… it’s a Halloween theme, so be sure to join us on the 20th for a night sure to entertain!
We will also be celebrating the accomplishments of our band seniors at the last home game of the season, performing our entire show with all of our props for Senior Night.  Be sure to join us at the game on Friday, October 27th!

THE NEXT GENERATION OF BAND BEGINS!
The Waynesville Middle School 6th Grade Band is 51 members strong, with all students learning instruments for the first time!  This group has 10 flute players, 10 clarinet players, 9 alto saxophones, 11 trumpets, 5 trombones, 1 baritone, and 5 percussionists.  We have been very busy learning how to sit up straight, hold our instruments properly, use proper air support, and mastering our first five notes!  The 6th grade band will make its debut performance at our Winter Concert in December!
