Girls Basketbal
Girls Basketball went 3-4 over Christmas break, securing two league wins in the process. They started the break off strong, defeating the Carlisle Indians 49-35 on December 21st. The leading scorers for the night were Juniors Isabella Cassoni with 14 points and Leah Butterbaugh with 10 points. They continued on with a game against the Anna Rockets on December 28th. The team fought hard until the last minute, but ultimately lost 48-42. The Lady Spartans continued league play on January 4th with a win over the Preble Shawnee Arrows, 68-36. The leading scorers for the night were once again Cassoni with 19 points and Butterbaugh with 11. They started this week with a game against Oakwood, taking home a 44-37 win. The top scoring Spartans were Junior Hannah Gill, with 12 points and Butterbaugh with 9 points. The momentum continued as the Lady Spartans defeated the Northridge Polar Bears 76-30 on Thursday night. Senior Carli Brown lead the team with 16 points, followed by Sophomore Alexei Van Schaik with 15 points. The Lady Spartans will play again on Monday night at East Clinton.

Boys Basketball
The Spartans won all their games over break. During their game against Goshen, they were down until 3rd quarter when they took the lead and ended up with a win. All games were non-league except for Dixie. Although Dixie attempted to make a comeback, the team fought hard and maintained their lead. Their record this season is an impressive 9-2 as they continue to seek a league title.

Swimming
Last Saturday, the swim team traveled to Miami University for a large invitational meet. Despite some time out of the water, the Spartans swam extremely well. The girls team ended up 3rd in a field of 11 teams that included many strong D1 teams. The boys finished 6th out of 12 teams. It was a competitive, successful meet in a fast pool. On Saturday the 11th, the team will go to Princeton High School for another huge meet and compete against many DI teams. They also have a dual meet with Bishop Fenwick on Sunday.

Wrestling
Wrestling has been on a roll lately, having individual placers at almost every meet they have competed in. Off the mat, they recently volunteered their time at Quaker Heights over Christmas Break. They took various board games to the residents and spent quality time with chatting and simply enjoying each other’s company. The Spartans return to the mat on Saturday January 11th at the Wilmington Invite.
