GIRLS BASKETBALL:
Girls Basketball continues to add to their success with wins over Carlisle and Dixie this past week. On Saturday, they took on the Dixie Greyhounds and brought home a 62-22 win. Leading the Lady Spartans were Junior Leah Butterbaugh, who had 13 points, and Senior Carli Brown who had 11 points. On Thursday night, they travelled to Carlisle and brought home a 37-35 win. Once again, Butterbaugh and Brown led the offensive drive for the Spartans, along with Junior Hannah Gill who contributed 4 assists. The team moves to 11-5 overall and 8-1 in the league. The Varsity squad will return to the court on Saturday January 25th, when they play at Milton-Union.

The Junior Varsity squad also played Dixie and Carlisle this week, taking home two wins as well. On Saturday, they defeated the Dixie Greyhounds 50-24, as Megan Bailey lead the offense with 12 points. Thursday night, they played against the Carlisle Indians and won 31-21. Sophomore Libby Bulach led the drive with 7 points, and Junior Elaina Grayson followed with 6 points. The Junior Varsity moves to 10-0 in the league, carrying the momentum into their next game Saturday at Milton-Union.

SWIMMING:
Last week, the swim team competed in the Southwest Ohio Classic. This meet included nearly 3000 swimmers and was run across 9 preliminary sites. Despite a long weekend, the team pulled some best times and swam extremely well against both DI and DII teams. Owen Conley, Audrey Conley, Devyn Olson, and the girls 200 free relay including Audrey, Devyn, Jordan Patterson, and Anicca Sivsov all qualified to finals. Audrey Conley out-swam all the competition in the 500 free and secured the Classic title.

Beyond the swimming, three Waynesville swim seniors received the Classic scholarship award. This award is given to 6 swimmers total. Nathan Eshler, William Kelley, and Anna Parry were selected for this honor and made up half of the winners.

The Spartans home invitational and senior recognition is Saturday, January 25th at Wright State University. It starts at noon. Please join us in celebrating our seniors and cheering on our team!

BOYS BASKETBALL:
In a tough game last Friday, the boys unfortunately lost at Northridge, 66-55. Despite this, they came back on Tuesday night and beat Milton-Union at home 63-54. On Friday, they will host Franklin on youth night. The boys are continuing their push to secure a league title and looking strong as they go into the second part of their season.
