Boys Basketball
Last Friday the boys played Madison who they tied last year for the league title. Although they lost, they cut their lead to single digits and are eager to play them again. Saturday, the team played at Twin Valley South. It was close for the first half, but they then extended their lead a lot in the second half and won by 15-20 points.
Tuesday, the Spartans played at Preble Shawnee. It was close at half, but they came out after the half to secure a 10 point lead and kept it the rest of the game. Despite missing key player Bryce Nolbertowicz, the starting point guard, after he rolled his ankle in the second quarter, the boys worked hard to obtain the win.
Swimming
After weeks of training, the Spartan swim team took on their first two meets of the season last week! On Tuesday, they traveled to Wilmington and set the baseline of the season. It was an excellent first meet and got the swimmers in a racing mindset. On Saturday, the Spartans went to Wright State for another meet and set some more best times. They are looking forward to their next two meets this weekend!
Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball team played Milton-Union this Thursday, taking home a 47-17 win. Leah Butterbaugh and Isabella Cassoni were key players during this game, with Butterbaugh scoring 20 points and Cassoni scoring 10. Last Saturday, they took on the Northridge Polar Bears, earning a 62-11 win. Carli Brown, Butterbaugh, and Cassoni were the key players for this matchup; Butterbaugh scoring 14, with Brown and Cassoni each having 8. The team played well in both games, showing improvements each play. Their defense has improved, and they attribute it to the strong communication displayed by the team on and off the court. The Lady Spartans will play again Saturday at Wilmington High School.
