In-Person Learning for Wayne Local Schools and the Warren County Career Center Temporarily Suspended until Tuesday, January 18th.
Our buildings will be closed on Thursday, January 13, Friday, January 14 and Monday, Jan 17, 2022.
We have been monitoring student illness along with the number of teacher and staff absences in our schools. This is not a problem that is unique to Waynesville; like the rest of Warren County and the region, our numbers have been increasing. We have approached this with the mindset to do everything possible to keep our students in school, in person. We commend our principals, teachers, and all district staff for driving vehicles, covering classes, feeding kids and jumping in wherever we need coverage. However, with the current regional shortage of substitutes we are putting an unsustainable strain on our staff, as our absences due to COVID-19 and other illnesses continue to climb. Temporarily closing Thursday and Friday along with the January 17th holiday gives us five (5) days to get healthy. We apologize for the challenges this presents for many families, given the short timeframe. We simply are in a teacher/staff coverage dilemma due to absences. Classes will resume in-person on Tuesday, January 18th. If needed, any additional adjustments will be communicated to you. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this challenging time.

A short assignment will be posted in Google Classroom for grades 7-12 each day, each class, by 9:00 am for students to complete. The assignments will be due no later than January 21st for credit.
