Waynesville High School and Athletics would like to recognize a remarkable figure in Waynesville Baseball...Chad Combs, a.k.a. "Doc Combs." If you don't know Chad, you may recognize his voice, for he is the voice of baseball on our home ball fields. From public announcer and DJ to public relations and devoted fan, Chad has supported the organization in many ways. Here's what our recent baseball coaches have to say about Chad....
From Tommy Begley, former Waynesville baseball coach..... "Chad first introduced himself as a person wanting to help Waynesville Baseball recover the past success of previous decades. He first came onto the scene 2011. When I think of what Chad did for the baseball program, it is remarkable. He alone created an atmosphere that every coach and player desired. From being the public announcer, to the walk up songs, to the Facebook page that represents the program so well. He selflessly went above and beyond anything I could ever imagine someone doing. I can remember players seeing him coming across the field with his iPad and notebook, screaming “DOC”. That shows how much these players enjoyed him and appreciated how much he gave back. In an era where players and coaches get all the credit, Chad was and is the MVP of the Spartan Bats success this decade! He made each and every one of us feel like a big leaguer!"
From Coach Ryan Hill, current Waynesville baseball coach...."If you have been to a Waynesville Spartan Baseball game in recent years, you know who Chad “Doc” Combs is, or at least you have heard his voice. I cannot begin to explain the gratitude and fortune Waynesville Baseball has for a guy like Doc Combs to come to the home ballpark and many other ballparks on the road. Along with running the Waynesville Spartan Facebook page, keeping records, scoring games statistically, operating the scoreboard, announcing and even giving each player an opportunity to have his own “walk-up” music during an at-bat (he’s a full time chiropractor as well), Doc is an even better person who donates his time to the game and players he loves."
A huge THANK YOU to Chad Combs for all that you have done to contribute to the Waynesville Baseball organization.
