Kohl Johnson, a WES fifth grader, had the exciting opportunity this summer to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum Explore STEM camp at Bowling Green State University.  This program is "designed to empower, engage, and equip next generation leaders to realize the power of their potential with amazing hands-on explorations, state-of-the-art simulations, and experiences...."

Kohl was nominated by his fourth grade teacher, Melissa Ferguson, as a candidate for the camp.  Kohl spent a week at BGSU, where he made many new friends.   In Kohl's own words, he shared with us what he learned:  "While I was at STEM camp, I learned a variety of things, but I think the most important thing I learned was how to build and program a robot.  Another important thing I was taught at STEM camp were traits such as goal-setting and time management.   While at camp, I also learned about the circulatory system, where we even got to dissect a cow heart!"

We are very proud of Kohl and his commitment to learning!
