All Waynesville Elementary Students in grades 1 through 5 are starting to learn about coding! Yes, you read that correctly….grades 1 through 5 are learning coding in Ms. Hartzell’s Computer Science & Technology classes! (aka..computers class)
Learning to code helps encourage students to practice soft skills like problem solving, critical thinking, resilience, and collaboration. A program called Kodable is being used. Kodable helps to bridge the gap of complicated program languages and shows real JavaScript syntax, but removes the complicated aspects of writing code and focuses on the most important parts to build a strong foundation for future learning.
Computer programming job numbers are rising, but at our current rate of growth, there will not be enough students to fill the jobs! Coding is the language of the future!
