The Center for P-20 Safety and Security was formed as a collaborative effort between the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Ohio Department of Education to create safe and supportive learning environments and respond to violence and its causes in educational settings throughout Ohio. Center personnel focus on school climate, safety, security and emergency management concerns in the K-12 and higher education environments, providing guidance and direction to promote physically safe and emotionally secure environments for students, educators, and staff.
Over the course of three calendar years, school districts are responsible for ensuring the completion of one of three emergency management tests annually. Exercises are limited to: tabletop, functional, and full-scale as outlined in Ohio Revised Code 3301-5-01 and Ohio Revised Code 3313.536.
Each building of Wayne Local School will experience a difference kind of situation in which safety measures will be different for each site. If you know your child has an appointment and will need picked up on Tuesday, November 26th, please contact the building administrator by Monday so arrangements can be made in advance. We will be looking for areas to improve upon and ask for your cooperation in making this drill go as smooth as possible.
Thank you.
