ACT Test

State-Funded ACT for Juniors

Posted:  March 10, 2023

On March 28th, 2023, Waynesville High School will be administering the state-funded ACT test.  There is no cost to take this test, but all juniors in Ohio, including our students attending the WCCC and CCP students, must take it this spring.  This is the only “free” ACT that will be offered, and it is for juniors only.  There are other testing dates that the ACT offers and registration information on the ACT website if a student would like to retake the test on another date.

On the morning of March 28th, the state-funded ACT will be administered at the high school.  Juniors are to arrive at Waynesville High School by 7:35 a.m. in their assigned testing location.  Juniors will be directed to their assigned testing rooms for check-in.  Testing room assignments will also be posted in the front entry way to assist students.  Check-in procedures and test set-up will take about 30 minutes; the ACT test will begin at 8:00 a.m.  Students will need to bring picture identification, two pencils and an ACT approved calculator (check www.actstudent.org or call 1-800-498-6481 for a recorded message about the current ACT calculator policy if you are unsure if your specific calculator is allowed).  Test will conclude at approximately 11:45 a.m.  Students will be released after testing is completed if they have a signed permission slip.  Permission slips are due to the main office by Friday, March 24th.  If a student does not have a permission slip, they will remain at school, have lunch and will be dismissed at 2:30.

If you have any questions about the state-funded ACT, please contact Karen Boggs – kboggs@wayne-local.com.

ONLY Juniors will report to the high school on Tuesday, March 28th.

All 9th, 10th and 12th graders will be doing a Community Service or Job Shadow Assignment on March 28th, 2023.

Community Service/Job Shadow Day for Freshmen, Sophomores & Seniors

March 28th, 2023, is an opportunity for current 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students to complete a Community Service or Job Shadow activity in place of their traditional school day.  Juniors will be taking the state-funded ACT in the building this day, so we are taking advantage of this opportunity for our 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students to earn hours toward their Community Service Seal or gain valuable insight on possible career paths.  Completing the requirements of this day will count for your attendance, a homework grade in your math class, and a unique learning experience.  Paperwork from the day should be turned in by March 30th.

Parents/students will decide where to complete this activity.  The student can choose if they want to shadow a particular career or find a community service to engage in for the day.  Discuss this opportunity as a family and plan ahead to determine what is doable for the day and most important to the student.

If you have any questions about the Community Service/Job Shadow Day, please contact Scott Jordan – sjordan@wayne-local.com.
