4 Reasons to Consider Post Secondary Education:
1. The average salary for a college graduate is approximately $15,000 more per year than those with only a high school diploma.
2. Many high level jobs require at least an Associate's Degree.
3. Gaining valuable work skills often called soft skills. Good manners, optimism, common sense, a sense of humor, empathy and the ability to collaborate and negotiate are all important soft skills. Other soft skills include situational awareness and the ability to read a situation as it unfolds to decide upon a response that yields the best result for all involved. Another important soft skill is adaptability. An employee with this attribute has the ability to work in various situations equally well and move from one situation to another with ease and grace. The ability to be diplomatic and respectful even when there are disagreements is also a key soft skill. This skill requires the employee to maintain a professional tone and demeanor even when frustrated.
4. College is a new experience and you learn how to interact with other people and different personalities. The differences between high school and college are tremendous. Teachers expectations, grading policies, and assignments are just a few of the significant changes that students will experience. A major change includes independence and responsibility. In high school, the teacher has the primary responsibility for a students education; primary responsibility shifts to the student and for many individuals that requires adjustments and personal growth.
