High School Baseball Update

The Spartans honored their seniors this week as well at a home game vs. Wilmington.  Seniors Joe Stone, James Hardyman, Rylan Guthrie, Hayden Hughes, and Brett Snyder were all recognized.  The Spartans will wrap up their regular season play versus Madison and will start tournament play Monday night against Clark Montessori.  The game will be played at Withrow All Star Baseball Field and tickets must be purchased online at https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets.

On  Monday, the Spartans were at home against the Brookville Blue Devils. The Spartans started the game off strong quickly going up 3-0 by just the second inning and continued to shut the Blue Devils down to just two runs for a majority of the game while also bringing in a pair of runs each in the 5th and 6th innings respectively, the seventh inning saw Brookville score twice but it was too little too late. The game ended in a final score of 7-4 resulting in a Spartans win.
 
On Wednesday, the Spartans took on the Franklin Wildcats at home. The first inning saw both teams playing very well explosive on both sides of the ball with Franklin up one to which The Spartans responded with one of their own the next inning  then followed by a Franklin run the inning after. After a scoreless fourth Franklin notched 5 runs while Waynesville had one  while the final innings went scoreless. The game ended with a final score of 2-7 resulting in a Spartans loss.

The Varsity boys baseball team opened up at home on Tuesday night vs. Fenwick.  The game was very competitive and tied 0-0 going into the top of the 7th inning.  Weather struck and the game was suspended in the top of the 7th with 2 outs and the score 0-5 in Fenwick’s favor.  The final four outs of the game is anticipated to be rescheduled at a later date.  The JV and Varsity teams are scheduled to play Thursday and Friday as well this week with JV at home and Varsity away at Springfield and then Miamisburg.
