A parade honoring our Lady Spartans and their awesome accomplishment was held followed by a Community Recognition event.
At the event, Head Coach Kelley Bricker is pictures with Mr. David Young, Warren County Commissioner, as he presents the team with a proclamation that November 18th, 2021 will be officially the Waynesville Lady Spartans State Championship Team Day.
Also, the team was presented with a "Key to the Village" in honor of their 2021 State Championship title. In the second photo, Coach Bricker is shown with the honorable Mayor Earl Isaacs and Village Manager and Director of Public Safety Gary Copeland. Bricker is receiving this award on behalf of the entire team.
A little history behind being given a ‘Key to the City’ - "The presentation of a Key to the City can be traced back to medieval times, when cities were enclosed by walls and locked gates. By the middle of the 1800's, it became customary to give a Key to the City as a direct symbol of the City's wish that a guest feel free to come and go at will.”
In these days and times, a key is also given as recognition of someone's achievements and a gesture of thanks conferred by city officials.
Thank you to the staff, students and community members that attended this special event.
SPECIAL THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING GUESTS:
Also, many thanks to Athletic Director Anna Garafolo, Assistant Athletic Director Jamie Manley, Superintendent Pat Dubbs, and Treasurer Ron James for their hard work, dedication, and contributions to honor and congratulate the Lady Spartans.
