Practice Remote Learning Plan for Waynesville High School Grade 9, 10 and 12 During the Practice ACT Test for Juniors

Date: Monday, November 16, 2020

Purpose:

1. To prepare for Level 4, or Purple in Warren County (per the state’s Public Health Advisory System), we will be holding a practice day for remote learning on Monday, November 16. Only the high school students (GRADES 9, 10 and 12) will be doing the practice remote drill on this day. Subsequently, all grades will practice remote learning on November 30th and December 1, 2020.

This plan is designed to outline the expectations and responsibilities of staff, students, administrators and parents that are currently in Option 1 for in-person instruction at Wayne Local Schools. Virtual Learning Academy students will continue in the VLA platform. This plan may also be implemented due to unexpected staff shortage, widespread quarantine, and in lieu of snow days and inclement weather at the superintendent’s discretion for the safety of students and staff.

2. Because we are providing the ACT practice test to our juniors, there is no available area (space) for a large group of students to test without disrupting the entire building. All juniors (only) will report to the high school before 7:30 a.m. as the test will begin promptly. We highly recommend WCCC & VLA students attend this practice test. The practice ACT test will take about 3.5 hours. Transportation will be provided for juniors to and from school if needed. If students have their own transportation, they may leave after the test is completed and will not go to their regular classes on Nov. 16. If students need busing/transportation, they will remain at WHS until 2.22 p.m. Juniors are not expected to do remote learning in the afternoon, but should remain caught up in all school work. Attendance is mandatory and will be taken on this day.

3. Grades 9, 10 and 12 will not be attending school; these students will attend their classes remotely on the 2-hour delay schedule as shown below. Grades K - 8 will be in session on Monday, November 16th as normal.

Parent Expectations:
Parents are to call Mrs. Manley if your child will miss classes for the day. Attendance will be taken on Monday, Nov. 16 and all attendance policies will remain in effect.
