Wayne Local Schools has learned os a possible new trend that is flooding our student's internet with pop-ups called The MoMo Challenge. While YouTube has announced that the company has found no recent videos promoting this trend, Wayne Local believes that the best thing we can do for our students is to stay educated and aware, but also to keep the lines of communication open with our students/children.  Further, we encourage parents to monitor their student's messaging use, and know who they are talking to and what they are viewing while online.

The MoMo Challenge Overview:

This deadly challenge has an administrator of the game that lures a victim into participating in challenges that include self-harm, with the endgame being suicide.  This pop-up ad for the MoMo Challenge is known to infiltrate popular games such as FortNite.  This female avatar with dark, scraggly hair, bulging eyes and a giant, creepy smile has been known to hack cell phones and send disturbing images and graphics to lure users into participating in the "game."

Below is a link to a newsletter with further information, and in an effort to bring awareness to parents, Wayne Local encourages all parents to become familiar with this latest danger to our students.
