CLOCK TOWER ON THE FRONT OF THE NEW ELEMENTARY BUILDING
At its August monthly meeting, members of the Wayne Local Board of Education voted to award phase II of our construction project to Monarch Construction based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Monarch is a general contractor specializing in the construction of commercial and institutional projects ranging from $5 million to $65 million. They were the competitive low bidder from a group of well-established construction companies that submitted bid packages.
Wayne Local Schools have worked closely with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, Architects from LWC, Inc., Megen Construction, Motz Engineering, Heapy Engineering, and Burkhardt Engineering in order to design our future elementary and phase II of our campus facility plan.
The school district anticipates ground breaking for phase II in September. The center piece of phase II is a new 94,059 square foot building to house preschool through 6th grade. The school district worked diligently with the Village of Waynesville to obtain our zoning permit and variances in order to get the bid package out to contractors this summer. One very important reason our project remains on budget is timing. Our second phase comes at a time when regional contractors are finishing other projects and looking for new work. Our project is timed to be in front of other upcoming school construction projects. The district will soon announce ground breaking and ribbon cutting ceremony details.
