WE’RE SMALL ENOUGH TO REALLY KNOW OUR STUDENTS, THAT GIVES THEM BIG OPPORTUNITIES

Thank you for attending  the “Envision the Future” meeting.  We are excited you are on board with us through this journey.  We appreciate your participation, comments and suggestions; they are very important to us as we move forward with planning our new elementary school.  I hope you enjoyed the event as much as I did.  Attached are the results from the Visioning Meeting. 

Barb Haxton, Executive Director of Ohio Head Start Association, attended the session and stated it was a pleasure to spend such quality time with members of our community, and to engage in a real exploration of what we want for our children in the coming years.  Barb also shared that she has been, and will continue to be, in conversations with key staff from both Attorney General Dewine’s office and Democratic Nominee Richard Cordray’s office regarding next steps in the political arena surrounding education in our state.  She stated “It is safe to say that both men support early childhood education and more importantly have committed to state funding for more early childhood education.”  Barb’s words remind us of the importance of early childhood education as we design our new facility. 

Also, I’m sure you heard the great news!  We are celebrating as Wayne Local Schools earned  an overall grade of “A” on the State Report Card!  This means that Waynesville is one of the top school districts in Ohio under the Ohio Department of Education’s grading system.  Out of more than 600 school districts in Ohio, our district was one of only 28 that achieved this highest mark.   We take pride in this recognition and applaud our exemplary staff members, outstanding students, parents and community members for this achievement!  

We need to produce new and greater opportunities for our students.  The facilities project will transform our community for decades to come.  Our students, staff and community truly deserve outstanding facilities.
